About CeSHHAR
CeSHHAR is an organization that aims to conduct research which influences the global HIV and Sexual & Reproductive Health policy environment, and strengthens the quality of provision of evidence-based HIV prevention, treatment and sexual health care. We partner with several academic and non-academic institutions including but not limited to the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University, Great Zimbabwe University, University of the Witwatersrand, Harvard University, New York University, Ghent University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and other international and African Universities with research excellence to rigorously evaluate national HIV prevention programmes and determine the impact, uptake, and cost effectiveness of novel HIV and sexual reproductive health interventions. We work at the forefront of finding innovative solutions to address the AIDS epidemic supported by a range of international donors.
About the annual research day
The inaugural CeSHHAR Annual Early Career Researcher Symposium, to be held on November 24, 2022, is planned as an in-person conference in Harare. In addition to launching the inaugural Frances M Cowan Emerging Innovator Award, the CeSHHAR ECR Symposium will accept important new cutting-edge research and findings on the most pressing issues and ideas. Furthermore, the symposium aims to recognise and facilitate synergies among researchers and programme implementers to exchange ideas and enhance interactions.
About the Frances M Award ceremony
In honor of Professor Frances M Cowan, CeSHHAR has introduced the annual Frances M Cowan Emerging Innovator Award to support capacity strengthening of research & program staff at CeSHHAR who immerse themselves in the most pressing issues and ideas of the day. The award’s goal is to reward a new generation of driven intellectuals, engaging in innovative research, service delivery, communication, and/or capacity strengthening, and whose work contributes to the Mission and Vision of CeSHHAR. The award will support international conference attendance, internship, or relevant training for one CeSHHAR staff member with a maximum value of US$4,000.
Audience
We are mainly targeting post graduate students including MSc, PhD and post-Doctoral fellows that seek to gain new knowledge, and strengthen their capacity in research on the most pressing issues and ideas of the moment.
